Personal Training FAQs
-
Your initial personal training session will be approximately 90 minutes and includes a comprehensive movement assessment. We’ll look at how your body moves to identify potential imbalances, asymmetries, mobility limitations, and areas of weakness that may need additional attention in your training.
Based on what we find, we’ll determine any mobility work, stretches, or activation drills that may be beneficial before your workouts. These movements will become part of your individualized warm-up routine before our sessions together and can also be practiced independently to continue improving between sessions.
Before your initial session, we’ll have already completed a phone consultation to discuss your goals, training history, previous or current injuries, lifestyle, and any other factors that may influence your program. This allows us to use our first in-person session to focus on movement, establish your baseline, and begin training.
After your initial 90-minute assessment and training session, all regular personal training sessions are 60 minutes.

Not at all! You don’t need to “get fit” before working with a personal trainer—that’s what we’re here for.
Origin Wellness works with all fitness levels, from complete beginners to experienced athletes. Exercises, weights, and progressions are selected based on where you are today and gradually progressed as you become stronger and more confident.
-
Most clients benefit from personal training one to three times per week, but the right frequency depends on your goals, experience, schedule, budget, and how much you train independently.
Some clients work with us once per week for guidance and accountability while completing additional workouts on their own. Others prefer two or more sessions per week for more hands-on coaching and consistency. We’ll help determine an approach that makes sense for you.
-
Often, yes. Origin Wellness regularly works with clients who have current or previous injuries, movement limitations, or are transitioning from physical therapy back into regular exercise.
Training can be modified around your individual needs and progressively advanced as your strength, mobility, and tolerance improve. When appropriate, we’re also happy to collaborate with your physical therapist or healthcare provider to help reinforce their recommendations and provide continuity as you return to fitness.
Personal training does not replace medical care or physical therapy, and medical clearance may be recommended depending on your condition.

Physical therapy and personal training serve different but complementary roles.
A physical therapist is a licensed healthcare professional who can evaluate, diagnose, and treat injuries and medical conditions. A personal trainer focuses on fitness, strength, mobility, conditioning, movement quality, and physical performance within their scope of practice.
Origin Wellness frequently works alongside physical therapists when appropriate. With your permission, we can communicate with your provider and incorporate their recommendations into your training so you have a more connected transition from rehabilitation to long-term strength and fitness.

Absolutely. You don’t need previous lifting experience to start strength training.
Working one-on-one with a personal trainer can be a great way to learn proper technique, become comfortable using gym equipment, understand how to select appropriate weights, and learn how to progress safely over time. We start with movements appropriate for your current ability and build from there.
-
Absolutely. Strength and muscle development are major components of what we do at Origin Wellness.
Your program uses progressive resistance training based on your current abilities and goals. As you progress, we strategically adjust variables such as weight, repetitions, sets, exercise difficulty, and training volume so your body continues to adapt and get stronger.
-
Yes. Personal training can be an important part of a sustainable weight-loss or body-composition plan.
Rather than focusing solely on burning calories, we prioritize resistance training to help build or maintain muscle while incorporating appropriate conditioning, nutrition, recovery, and sustainable lifestyle habits. Nutrition coaching is also available for clients who want additional support with their goals.
-
Yes. Depending on your training plan and goals, we can provide structured workouts for you to complete independently between sessions.
This can be especially helpful for clients who meet with us once or twice per week but want to train more frequently. Independent programming helps keep your training consistent and ensures your workouts outside of our sessions support the same goals we’re working toward together.
